Bay Area Resident Package
The Bay Area Resident Package
A weekend at Fisherman’s Wharf, on the rate we keep for our neighbors.
Save up to 10% on stays of two nights or more, with late checkout and a $25 dining credit at Blue Mermaid — the only seafood restaurant on Aquatic Park and a TripAdvisor Top 1% pick worldwide in 2025.
What’s included
The Bay Area Resident Package gives California residents within the nine-county Bay Area a rate we don’t publish anywhere else, plus a few things to make the weekend feel like a real escape rather than a transaction.
- Late checkout to 1:00 PM, so Sunday isn’t a scramble.
- $25 dining credit at Blue Mermaid — apply it to brunch, happy hour, or a glass of California wine on the patio.
- Valet parking
Bay Area pets are welcome — Argonaut is a pet-friendly hotel and your dog stays free with this package. Just let us know in your reservation notes.
Who this is for
You live in San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, Solano, Napa, Sonoma, or Marin County. You want a weekend where you walk along the Bay, stroll to Ghirardelli for chocolate sundaes, ride a cable car because you can, and order chowder at a restaurant your out-of-town friends won’t believe is on the Wharf.
You want to be a tourist for thirty-six hours without flying, parking at the airport, or pretending you don’t already know what’s good.
That’s the offer.
Why Argonaut
Argonaut sits at the corner of Hyde and Jefferson in the original Haslett Warehouse, a Cass Gilbert building from 1907 that was designed to receive cargo straight off the ships at Hyde Street Pier. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places. The interiors keep the brick and timber and add windows that frame Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge.
You’re also in the only hotel inside San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, which means your morning walk starts at the historic ships docked at Hyde Street Pier and ends at Aquatic Park Cove — a three-minute stroll, and the only beach in the city with a view of the Bridge from a sand seat.
Locals don’t always realize how much of the Wharf belongs to the National Park Service.
What to do with your weekend
A few unforced suggestions. None of these are stretches; all are within walking distance, except the last two.
- Friday afternoon arrival — Drop the car with our valet. Walk up Polk to the Buena Vista Cafe for an Irish coffee they’ve been making since 1952. Back to the room. Dinner at Blue Mermaid — start with the chowder flight (our chowder won the San Francisco Business Times “Value for Your Money” award this year), then whatever’s on the seasonal sheet from Chef Amod.
- Saturday morning — Coffee on the patio at Blue Mermaid (your $25 credit covers two breakfasts). Walk to Aquatic Park, watch the swimmers from the South End Rowing Club do their morning lap, then take the Powell-Hyde cable car turnaround at the corner — board on the way down the line at Hyde and Beach for a much shorter wait. Get off at Ghirardelli Square for chocolate.
- Saturday afternoon — Bike along the Embarcadero, past Pier 39 to Fort Mason and the Marina Green. The Palace of Fine Arts is twenty minutes’ ride. Or, if you’d rather sit, walk five minutes to the Hyde Street Pier and tour the Balclutha, an 1886 square-rigger that smells like every old ship you’ve ever read about.
- Saturday night — Happy hour at Blue Mermaid (4–6 PM, $5 chowder cups). Let our concierge make you dinner reservations at some of the local hot spots!
- Sunday morning — Sleep in. You have a 2:00 PM checkout. Brunch at Blue Mermaid or grab a coffee and walk one block to the Buena Vista line. Drive home before traffic builds back up across the Bay Bridge.
