Eco-Friendly Hotel

We believe in protecting the environment. It’s why we’re certified green.

Argonaut Hotel is certified as a Green Business by the Department of the Environment and has been recognized with 4 Green Keys by the Green Key Eco-Rating Program. In addition, our San Francisco eco-hotel has earned the EPA’s ENERGY STAR certification and achieved GreenLeader Gold Level status with TripAdvisor.

We push well beyond what is required with our eco-friendly efforts to preserve and protect the indoor and outdoor environment.

Eco Facts

From LED light bulbs to motion-sensor control panels in guest rooms and public spaces, stem battery power to low-flow water valves, environmentally responsible cleaning solutions to ongoing recycling efforts, we make sure our hotel is green all over.

Preserve, Protect, Inspire

The Argonaut is a certified Green Business, and we’re proud of it. We’re also continually developing eco-friendly efforts to preserve and protect the environment, while still offering an indulgent (and healthier) hotel experience.

Water Conservation

The hotel’s water-saving systems, water miser faucet control valves, and toilets account for a 15% reduction in annual water use.

Diversion from Landfill

No more tiny bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Instead, our guests are treated to the luxurious scent and nourishment of our Lather bath & body essentials in large shower pump bottles.

We also recycle our kitchen grease into biofuel and compost, further helping us divert as much as 74% of the hotel’s waste stream from landfill.

Breathing Through the Outdoors

According to the EPA, indoor air is three times more polluted than outdoor air. We raise indoor air quality by circulating large amounts of outdoor air into guest rooms (all our Bay View accommodations and suites have windows that open). The hotel also uses low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) carpets and pads, sealants, paints and adhesives.

Reduction of Chemicals

We use Green Seal certified cleaning products, resulting in sustainability. Our team reuses bottles and reduces hazards with non-irritating cleaners.

Second Time Around

A winner of the 2009 California Preservation Foundation Design Award for Large Rehabilitation Projects, our luxury hotel near Fisherman’s Wharf went through an earthquake-proofing of the 4-story, 200,000 sq. ft. building.

Transportation

Our guests are free to check out our complimentary bicycles to explore San Francisco safely and comfortably without the hassle of gas, traffic, and parking. If you arrive by electric car, our garage offers complimentary juice bars for those who valet-park their vehicles with us.

Local & Organic

Our famed Blue Mermaid Restaurant & Bar features menus prepared with a twist of San Francisco sizzle. Beloved dishes like homemade chowders, steamed mussels, and classic cioppino are prepared in an eco-friendly fashion respectful of the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s sustainable fisheries guidelines. Our cuisine is paired with a thoughtful selection of wines, microbrews, and hand-crafted cocktails.

Community Efforts

Aside from the Argonaut housing the National Park Visitor Center, our partnership with the National Park Service has created many opportunities to directly benefit the community. One such is the Historic Waterfront Walking Tour, offered every Saturday and Sunday, between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Hotel guests, visitors, and locals alike get to stroll with a Park Ranger to discover the history of this vibrant area on this mile-long tour through the Aquatic Park Historic District, the Cannery, Hyde Street Pier, and “Fish Alley” at Fisherman’s Wharf. For more information, visit the National Park Service website.

Through our affiliation with Noble House Hotels & Resorts and being a recognized leader in the San Francisco hospitality industry, the Argonaut believes in aiding and assisting those in need. Our team regularly volunteers with local partners and donates time, space, and services in an ongoing effort to improve the community.

The Argonaut Hotel hosts a variety of employee events throughout the year, promoting diversity and inclusion within the team, such as themed employee luncheons and celebration of different cultural holidays. In addition, a diversity mural was created with quotes from team members to serve as a reminder of the importance of diversity and inclusion.

Same Light, Less Energy

The adaptive reuse of the famed Haslett Warehouse as the Argonaut Hotel included major structural alterations (including creation of a light well in the building center) for the hotel conversion.

Our San Francisco green hotel reduces greenhouse gases by using LED light bulbs in a majority of fixtures. Guest rooms and event spaces are equipped with motion sensors, and our hotel is a recognized participant in the Step Up And Power Down initiative by PG&E.

The recent installation of a stem battery helps us save electricity during peak demand, providing automated peak reduction through a combination of high definition data which allows demand response signals to take a load off the grid.
